Angela was receiving support from Children’s services after her partner was given a prison sentence. She was pregnant with twins and had a toddler who also visited with her. The FIRST team initially met Angela and gave her an Induction so she understood more about visiting the prison and knew of the services that were available for her and her children. She visited often and spoke to the team who gave her emotional support and liaised with Children’s services on her behalf. Her toddler made use of our Activity and Play Area which helped him feel more settled in the prison environment. Angela had a few concerns about her partner and FIRST liaised with the prison to resolve issues, bringing her peace of mind. Angela received extra information from the team about other agencies that could support her and helped her to prepare for her partner’s release. On the day of her partner’s release, Angela came to meet her partner and whilst she was waiting, the team were able to be there for her, give her refreshments and assist her partner when he came out of prison. Angela gave FIRST a thank you present as she was so grateful for their support. She said that she didn’t know what she would have done without them and that they had been a great help to her and her family.
