Celebrating
25 years
2025 marks the 25th anniversary of Lincolnshire Action Trust being established as a charity. The charity was first set up to continue the work started by Lincolnshire Probation Service and Lincolnshire Training and Enterprise Council, that dates back to 1992. Initially, recognising the importance of sustainable employment on reducing re-offending, this work focused solely on employability support for adults on Probation supervision in Lincolnshire.
Since 2000, LAT has developed interventions and services to meet the needs of individuals at each stage of the criminal justice system, from arrest through to release from prison, as well as now supporting families and others affected indirectly.

Since 2000, LAT has been committed to empowering individuals to make a lasting change to their lives and every year we support thousands of people in prison and in the community to do this through our services. Our impact benefits the individual, their family and friends, and the wider community.

LAT registered with Companies House

Employment Keyskills Programme commenced for Probation clients in community

August 2001
New Deal, specific support for job seekers with a criminal record

LAT registered with Charity Commission

Started supporting youth offending service clients via skilled up, literacy and numeracy project.

Introduced back on track employment guidance project to HMP North Sea Camp and HMP Morton Hall.

Recruited first volunteers to support clients.

Matrix accreditation achieved.

Introduced literacy and numeracy support into probation offices.

Started delivery of intensive control and change programme an alternative to custody pilot for young adults aged 18-24.

Introduced self-employment support.

Developed financial capability toolkit in conjunction with the financial services authority and the national offender management service for dissemination across all prisons in England.

Commenced PS Plus accommodation and case management support in 4 prisons, including HMP Nottingham.

Started providing family support to prisoners.

Introduced intensive interventions for Prolific and Priority Offenders (PPOs).

Hosted third sector consultation event on behalf of east midlands regional offender manager attended by over 60 VCS organisations from across the region.

Introduced Supporting People ‘floating support’ for PPOs.

Income exceed £1million for first time .

Introduced parenting courses for prisoners.

Established Departure Lounge at HMP Lincoln – the first in the country.

Expanded charitable objects to include supporting people affected by the substance use of a loved one, to allow Oasis Project (Lincolnshire) charity to merge into LAT.

Started delivering Greater Lincolnshire Women’s Service, a specific service for women under supervision to Probation.

Commenced delivery of family support in 6 prisons, including HMP Hull and HMP Humber.

Introduced Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion to four Lincolnshire Police custody suites.

Mobilised 3 new CRS services for Probation clients.

LAT’s Departure Lounge model cited in MOJ Prisons Strategy White Paper as model of good practice.

Facilitated trauma informed training for over 40 Lincolnshire providers.

Supported Lincolnshire Office for Police and Crime Commissioner with introduction of Lincolnshire Women’s Strategy and Concordat.

LAT established Lincolnshire’s first Women’s Centre.

Lincolnshire Discharged Prisoners Welfare charity merged into LAT.

Our work is focused on the care, resettlement and rehabilitation of individuals involved in the criminal justice system and those at risk of offending as well as the welfare of their families and dependants.
