Monday marked the start of this year’s 16 Days of Activism, and we are highlighting our work in helping those who are suffering from domestic violence.

The global campaign runs from 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, until 10th December, Human Rights Day.

This year at Lincolnshire Action Trust (LAT) we are proud to have joined the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA), increasing our commitment to supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse. We believe that awareness and education are key to creating safe, understanding environments for those impacted by abuse. By partnering with EIDA, we can strengthen our efforts to help employers recognise the signs of abuse and understand its impact on their employees.

EIDA is a remarkable organisation, bringing together nearly 2,000 businesses across the UK to tackle domestic abuse, all free of charge. Through this initiative, EIDA offers essential resources, inspiration, and support to help employers make a real difference. It provides practical tools that make it easier for businesses to take effective action and foster a culture of safety and awareness in their workplaces. Additionally, EIDA brings organisations together to share ideas and learn from each other, offering events, resources, and up-to-date guidance in collaboration with government and academic partners.

For us, being part of EIDA means we can work even more effectively within our community to ensure that anyone experiencing abuse feels supported, not just at home but also in their place of work.

Every year, approximately two million individuals in the UK suffer from some type of domestic abuse and of these, 1.3 million are female.

Our commitment to supporting women affected by abuse is proven by our Women RISE Project, which is dedicated to helping women rebuild their lives in a supportive, empowering environment. In the last 12 months alone, Women RISE Project has assisted over 140 women, providing essential support services tailored to their unique experiences and needs. By offering counselling, skill-building workshops, and a safe community for women to heal and grow, LAT is helping transform lives and offering a brighter path forward.

Both initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment to supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse across Lincolnshire. By partnering with EIDA, we can provide workplaces with essential tools and knowledge, empowering employers to recognise the signs of abuse and create safe, understanding environments for their employees.

Meanwhile, through Women RISE Project, we can offer support and resources to help vulnerable women to rebuild and thrive.

Together, these programmes enable us to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most, helping create a future where everyone in our community feels safe, supported, and valued.
