Every year, more than 80,000 families and 200,000 children are affected by imprisonment. LAT helps families maintain important ties, keeping prisons safer and reducing reoffending.
Lincolnshire Action Trust has a team of staff based in prisons across the region, supporting families, children and significant others affected by a loved one being in prison. Our Family and Significant Others team are located at the following prisons:
Our staff are there to provide information about visiting and about the prison, as well as any general advice on anything a visitor may be struggling with.
Every prison is different, however our Family Engagement teams, known as the ‘Purple People’, act as a point of contact before, during and after a visit. We aim to provide information to make visits less daunting for all visitors, particularly children, by offering practical and emotional support.
We can also support with:
- Information about financial assistance for visiting a prison
- Travel and transport
- Sources of support for the family
- Raising a concern or making a complaint
- Making a visit accessible e.g. for neurodivergent visitors or visitors with a disability
- Liaising with schools and other agencies
If you wish to book a visit at one of the following prisons, or if you already have one booked, please find helpful information in the links below:
