Tania was receiving support from Children’s Services after her partner was given a prison sentence. She was pregnant with twins and had a toddler who also visited with her. LAT’s Family and Significant Others Team at HMP Lincoln initially met Tania and offered her an induction so she understood more about visiting the prison and knew of the services that were available for her and her children.
She visited regularly and spoke to the team, who gave her emotional support and liaised with Children’s Services on her behalf. Her toddler made use of our Activity and Play Area, which helped him feel more settled in the prison environment.
Tania had a few concerns about her partner, and her Family Engagement Worker liaised with the prison to resolve issues, giving her peace of mind.
Tania became increasingly concerned about how things would be when her partner was released, so her Family Engagement Worker worked with her to provide information about agencies that could support her and helped her to prepare for her partner’s release.
On the day of his release, Tania came to meet her partner at the Departure Lounge and whilst she was waiting, her Family Engagement Worker was able to be there for her, offer her a hot drink and provide toys to occupy her toddler.
Tania was very grateful for the support the team provided. She said that she didn’t know what she would have done without them and that they had been a great help to her and her family.
