It is with a heavy heart that we say farewell  to the Oasis Family Support team who will be taking up new roles from 1st April 2025 as the Lincolnshire County Council ‘Family and Affected Others’ service moves to Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership.

Lincolnshire Action Trust has been a steward of the Oasis Charity since November 2015 when the charities merged and continued to deliver exceptional support to young people and families across Lincolnshire facing challenges due to the substance use by loved ones.

In early 2023, the service returned to its original focus to include provision of support to all of those impacted by someone else’s substance use, which meant a growth in the team.

The team worked hard to develop new initiatives and build a whole new part of the service for adults which included the launch of peer support groups, specialist courses and respite activities.

Oasis has continued to be well supported by the local community and other charities, providing gifts (including Christmas presents for children) and funding to enable to service to meet the needs of the families and young people getting support.

Kim Thompson, Senior Practitioner, has been at the heart of the Oasis service since 2015 and has successfully led the team in providing information, advice and guidance to families that focused on addressing their individual needs.

Kim will be starting a new role working with young people at a local school.

Speaking of her fondest memories at Oasis, Kim said: “The greatest thing will always be the privilege it has been to be a part of these families lives. I know that what we have done has made a real difference and that makes everything worthwhile.

“The team have worked so hard to develop the family part of the service and I know that we could not have done more to get it to where we are now. I am really proud of all that we have achieved in Oasis and it will stand as a legacy.“

The whole team have pioneered new ways of working across the county of Lincolnshire, considering the diverse needs represented by the areas that they work in and the different people that access the service. A particular highlight of the service growth has been the response of our adult clients that are now accessing the support on offer.

We have all been privileged to work alongside the incredible team and it has been inspiring to witness their dedication and passion firsthand.  We are proud that Oasis will always be a part of our heritage at LAT.

We wish the team all the best in the new Beacon Family and Friends service and we are confident  that the legacy of Oasis will continue to benefit  families across Lincolnshire for years to come.
