Family and Significant Other Support

LAT has a team of staff based at a number of prisons in the region who are able to support families,  children and significant others affected by a loved one being in prison.  Staff are located at the following sites:

  • HMP Hull
  • HMP Humber
  • HMP Lincoln
  • HMP Morton Hall
  • HMP North Sea Camp
  • HMP Stocken

Our staff  can give information about visiting and about the prison, as well as general advice on anything you may be struggling with, such as finances and housing.

Our teams act as a point of contact, encourage visiting by families and significant others, and aim to provide information to make visits less daunting for children and for other family members.  We can also develop links with schools and other agencies to ensure a father can stay involved in his child’s life whilst in prison.  Being Dad, a course to develop and hone parenting skills, is also offered to fathers and carers in prison.

You can pop in and see them when you come and visit, or phone them on the following numbers:

HMP Hull - 01482 282574 (main prison switchboard number 01482 282200)

HMP Humber - 01430 273272 (main prison switchboard number 01430 273000)

Dress Code

Visitors are required to follow the HMPPS Dress Code when visiting. Some prisons have their own dress code, so please check before attending.  If the dress code is not followed, you may be refused entry.

Our friends at Prison Voicemail have made a short animation about what to expect when a family member goes to prison.

Additional support is available via the national Prisoners’ Family Helpline who offer advice and support on all aspects of arrest, going to court and prison.  They are available on freephone 0808 808 2003.

Lines open:
Mon-Fri 9am – 8pm
Sat & Sunday 10am – 3pm

HM Prison Service and Lincolnshire Action Trust understand that prison can be very difficult, both for prisoners and for their families and significant others.  If you have any concerns about a prisoner at any of the locations above, please contact the Safer Custody line of the relevant Establishment:
